Yesterday was unusual. First, my wife heard a lot of water noise and thought it was the AC, but it turned out a squirrel has gotten into a water barrel and was swimming around and couldn't get out. Fished 'em out with a rake and put 2" cedar posts in the barrels so they can climb out next time.
Then, later that night, my wife stood up suddenly from the kitchen table and shouted "there's a cow in the back yard!". There was, only a few feet from the back porch, eating grass.
This morning we went cycling and saw dozens of dragon flies. At one point I think I saw about 3 dozen at the same time. They must have hatched out at the same time. Wierd.

Native Yarrow
This looks like fern, and was very unexpectedly growing by BD's driveway It's only a few inches tall. I only happened to notice it when I hung my coat on a tree while walking down the road. Even BD didn't know it was there! Doug pointed out that it's native yarrow. I updated the picture now that it survived all winter (down to the low 20's) and yet it stayed green the whole time and has now bloomed. Later I found a whole group of two foot tall blooming specimans across the road and down a lot. Today I saw two more "bunches" of it on Spears Ranch. It's amazing what gros and you never see unless you look!
