Fought my second armadillo - he lost. Optimum time seems to be 11PM or 8AM for them to come out and do some damage. I 've also been battiling a racoon who has learned to climb up some other tree then scamper across the roof to this tree, or maybe he's just running up the metal guards - they used to work.
Anyway, he keeps unscrewing the lid and even unhooking latches until the whole thing is on the ground. I added a lock and chains and he managed to get it cocked sideways but could not get it down. I even re-enforced (re-inforced?) the plastic with a section of PVC and screwed everything together.
This wierdly colored cardinal may be immature as an adult pair was also feeding at the same time. The whole scene looks a bit lush and interesting but I assure you it is dry and suffering...
