There were lots of butterfies this weekend and the swallowtailscaused me quite a bit of anguish because I could not get one to be still so I could take a picture. One morning I found one on the road that was alive, but barely. I made him pose for a few pictures!

When you see a Swallowtail in flight, the spots on the dark wings are about all you see. The underside has a lot more color, hence this picture may look a bit unusual to you.

I got this great shot (two weeks later) when the butterflies are too tired or too hot to fly off so easily. This is a common buckeye.

This is an American Snout in the family Brush-footed butterfly family.
Everyone knows a Monarch when they see one...
This is some kind of DuskyWing but there are lots of similar species here.
Unknown butterfly on the (only) large Yarrow patch on the ranch.
This is a grey hairstreak

The colors really pop on this guy and I found a whole bunch of these in one small area. Maybe 2 per square foot. Can you spot all seven butterflies???
