No pics this week but still a lot of sightings. At the main entrance next to the road I saw 2 quail - the first I've ever seen around here.
Hogs are out in full force. There is large black sow and large brown sow with 15 small brown piglets. I think these were the ones in my yard last week but I did not see all of them. Later I saw them on the corner of Palamino and Spears and a few days later on a lot several lots further towards the back gate. GW has seen them in is yard, too. These seem to be braver than most and appear in daylight hours. I've been told that a 3/16" wire noose snare is strong enough for a 175lb boar...
Butterflies are plentiful, some cedar elms are leafing out, grass is greening up - we just need a rain!

Lots of these after it rained. The "bat" shadow is my camera. Also called Violet woodsorrel.
Native Yarrow
This looks like fern, and was very unexpectedly growing by BD's driveway It's only a few inches tall. I only happened to notice it when I hung my coat on a tree while walking down the road. Even BD didn't know it was there! Doug pointed out that it's native yarrow. I updated the picture now that it survived all winter (down to the low 20's) and yet it stayed green the whole time and has now bloomed. Later I found a whole group of two foot tall blooming specimans across the road and down a lot. Today I saw two more "bunches" of it on Spears Ranch. It's amazing what gros and you never see unless you look!
