This morning's 2-mile walk was an interesting. I've been on the lookout for some large bird's I've been seeing but could not get close enough to identify. Today I had my camera with me. The first turned out to be a crow, which was disappointing. You oftern heard these guys, and sometimes see them fly off, but it's pretty rare to see them close up. On the last part of the walk I saw two birds 5 lots abart that surprisingly turned out to be the same kind of bird. I first thought these were owls but they are
American Kestrals.
This kestrel in the tree I saw first.
This second kestrel on the power line was next to my property.
We also saw some
Brown-headed cowbirds. They were unusual in that they did not fly off when we got close to them. The male is black with a brown head. The smaller ones are females.
